General information:
The test identifies the cause of a blood clot (thrombotic episode); to assess prolonged partial thromboplastin time (PTT); to help determine the cause of recurrent miscarriages or as part of an evaluation for antiphospholipid syndrome. Lupus anticoagulants (LAs) are autoantibodies produced by the immune system that mistakenly attack certain components of the body's own cells. They specifically target phospholipids as well as phospholipid-associated proteins found in the outermost layer of cells.
